West Thames College has recently celebrated an incredible milestone, earning an Outstanding rating from Ofsted. Among the remarkable stories of dedication and determination that contributed to this achievement is that of Aziza, a GCSE student who has been at the College for four months.
Aziza is currently studying mathematics, English, and health and social care.
“The reason I chose these courses is that I want to develop myself, complete my education, and go to university,” she shared.
Her commitment to personal growth and academic success is evident in her passion for learning and her aspiration to use education as a stepping stone toward future accomplishments.
For Aziza, health and social care holds a special place in her heart.
She explains: “I enjoy health and social care because it provides life lessons, and being a mother has developed some concepts for me.”
She also finds joy in mathematics, noting that it “stimulates my mind.” Her enthusiasm for these subjects highlights her drive to engage with meaningful learning experiences that prepare her for real-world challenges.
Reflecting on how her studies have equipped her for the future, Aziza remarked: “Mathematics benefited me a lot and helped me in accounts and budgeting. As for the health and social care class, it added a lot to me in values and principles and how to deal more confidently with children and adults.”
These invaluable skills not only enhance her own life but also have the potential to make a positive impact on her community.
Aziza describes West Thames College as “a wonderful, safe, clean, and large college” with teachers who “work with love.” She vividly recalls the support she received from a teacher who went above and beyond, even during their spare time, to ensure her success.
“I improved a lot in language in just two years and became able to understand, speak, read, and write because he taught me an excellent learning strategy,” she said.
On the Ofsted achievement, Aziza expressed her pride, stating, “It was a wonderful experience, and we didn’t need to feel anxious during the inspection because we were already prepared and doing well in college.”
