West Thames College's Skills + Logistics Centre in Feltham came alive last week as students and staff celebrated Black History Month with an exciting lunchtime event filled with live music, delicious food and community spirit.

West Thames College students took part in the Student Takeover at the Opportunity Conference, putting their questions directly to a panel discussing the theme “Good Jobs, Not Just More Jobs”.

Students packed the college theatre to hear Paul Muhammad, West Thames College Lecturer in Media, deliver a powerful and engaging Black History Month talk, exploring the rich history, innovation and achievements of Black people that are often overlooked in mainstream education. From the Nubian Empire and the Moors to Black British history, the session challenged stereotypes and encouraged students to think more deeply about the stories behind the history they learn.

As T Levels Week comes to a close, West Thames College is looking ahead to the future of technical education and the opportunities it offers the next generation. Designed with employers, T Levels combine specialist classroom learning with a substantial industry placement, helping students gain the knowledge, practical experience and skills needed to progress into skilled employment or further study.
