As part of our commitment to making West Thames College a sustainable and environmentally conscious institution, our students were encouraged to design two recycling posters to help boost usage of our brand-new recycling bins. One poster would highlight ‘Mixed Recyclables’ and the other ‘General Waste’.
The competition invoked a lot of interest and delivered a large array of original designs to choose from, however, one poster stood out from the rest.
A visually strong concept by Josley Dias was selected by our senior staff judges as the winner, and a number of runners-up were also selected:
- Amanuel Hailemichael
- Reece Joseph
- Nada Ahmed Mohamed
- Phoebe Wallace.
The awards were presented by Jane Pendry, Curriculum Manager in Supported Learning & Foundation Learning, who congratulated them on their amazing entries and efforts.
Josely’s winning concept was enhanced by a graphic designer, ready for publishing in our new term this September. Josely’s final posters can be seen below:
