West Thames College has partnered with a local designer, fabricator and artist Neil Lemaire, to help in the production of life-saving PPE.

As the situation with the COVID-19 Coronavirus progresses, there has been an increasing shortage of the availability of face protection in our National Health Service and as a further education college in the heart of West London, we have been eager to see how we may be able to use our facilities to help others in light of the current situation.

We were overwhelmed when the College was introduced to Neil, who is locally based in Brentford and a specialist in Bronze Casting, Mould-making and 3D printing. In the last few weeks, we have been working closely together and using the College’s 3D specialist printing facilities, Neil is designing and producing face visors for front line NHS staff. Neil will also in the future, be exploring the production of mushroom valves to go into face masks.

Neil’s studio is based at the London Museum of Water & Steam, near Kew Bridge. For more information on Neil’s work please visit: www.mouldmakinguk.com & www.neillemaire.com
