Makeup students work alongside professional photographer and fashion designer.
On Friday 15th November, our level 3 Makeup students were given the opportunity to work alongside Sadia Barlow (professional photographer) in collaboration with fashion designer Angela Colarusso based in Richmond.
Sadia met with our level 3 Makeup students to show them what projects she is working on and her portfolio. She then presented a brief to students to see who would be interested in styling hair and makeup for a photoshoot in Spring Grove House.
Three of our level 3 Makeup students shown above (Merran, Lily, and Georgia) jumped at the chance to gain some work experience. The brief Sadia set the students involved a 1940's theme and dramatic eye contour complementing the dress designed by Angela.
Our students found the experience exciting "amazing we were given free-reign". The students mentioned how they learned about lighting effects, working against tight deadlines, and was a real eye-opener. In addition, we asked the students what they would do differently given the opportunity again, they all agreed on being more organised, work faster, and request a more detailed schedule.
All Makeup students at West Thames College receive a plethora of work experience opportunites such as casting, working in the West End ,and working alongside professionals in fashion, film and photography.
