West Thames College will officially launch its Transport + Logistics Skills Hub at the Skills + Logistics Centre in Feltham next week, bringing together education, employers and industry stakeholders to strengthen skills development and create new opportunities across one of the UK’s most important sectors.
The launch marks an important step in the College’s commitment to supporting the transport and logistics industry, connecting local people with career pathways while helping employers develop the skilled workforce they need.
The Hub provides a platform for collaboration between further education and industry, bringing together professional expertise, employer experience and relevant training. Its focus is on helping learners gain the practical skills, qualifications and professional recognition needed to progress into careers across transport, logistics and supply chain operations.
West London is a significant centre for the sector, with Heathrow Airport and major freight, distribution and commercial operations supporting businesses and employment across the region. As the industry continues to evolve, developing a skilled workforce is essential to addressing recruitment challenges and supporting sustainable economic growth.
Marta Gajewska, CEO and Principal of West Thames College, said: “We are committed to working with employers and partners to inspire and train the next generation of logistics professionals. The collaboration with the industry and its stakeholders reflects that commitment by bringing together professional expertise, further education and frontline employer experience. Its ambition is to help more students develop relevant skills, gain recognised professional status and progress in a vital industry.
“The sector is a cornerstone of the UK economy. At West Thames College, we continue to expand our logistics courses and apprenticeships, and proudly lead the Logistics Skills Hub — driving skills, innovation and opportunity across the sector. The collaboration with stakeholders is a fantastic celebration of progress, inclusion and the power of education to shape the future of logistics.”
Through its expanding range of logistics courses, apprenticeships and employer partnerships, West Thames College is working to ensure that training reflects industry requirements and that more people can access meaningful career opportunities. The Hub also provides a focal point for employers to engage with education, contribute their expertise and help shape the skills needed for the future.
The launch builds on the College’s established work with the transport and logistics sector and reinforces its role in supporting local skills priorities. By bringing education and industry closer together, the Transport + Logistics Skills Hub aims to help address skills gaps, widen access to training and support the long-term success of businesses across West London.
