Choosing what to do after your GCSEs is a big decision, but it doesn’t mean you have to choose between gaining practical experience and keeping your options open. At West Thames College, our five T Level pathways help you build specialist skills and explore exciting opportunities in employment, apprenticeships and higher education.
Developed with employers, T Levels combine classroom learning with an industry placement of at least 45 days. They are equivalent in size to three A Levels and carry UCAS points, making them a valuable route into both the workplace and further study.

Whether you’re interested in technology, healthcare, childcare or laboratory science, there’s a pathway to help you take your next step.
- Digital Software Development: Turn your interest in technology into a potential career in software development, web design, games development or IT, or progress to a related degree or higher apprenticeship.
- Digital Support and Security (Cybersecurity): Develop skills for careers in IT support, digital infrastructure and cyber security, with opportunities to progress to higher-level technical training.
- Health: Prepare for roles such as healthcare support worker, or continue your studies towards nursing, midwifery and other healthcare professions.
- Education and Early Years – Childcare: Build a foundation for a career supporting children’s learning and development, with opportunities for further training and progression in early years education.
- Science: Develop practical laboratory and scientific skills that can support progression into laboratory-based employment, further technical qualifications or higher education.

The Department for Education recognises three key progression routes for T Level graduates: skilled employment, apprenticeships and further or higher education. Depending on your results, chosen specialism and entry requirements, you could move directly into work, continue developing your skills through an apprenticeship or pursue a university degree.
