West Thames College, the Logistics Skills Alliance, the Institute of Couriers and HBC Logistics have received national recognition for an innovative apprenticeship model supporting mobile workers in the express logistics sector.
The partnership won two awards at the 2026 Education and Training Awards:
- Best Collaborative Apprenticeship Delivery Partnership 2026 – UK
- Collaborative Workforce Training Innovation Award 2026 – UK
The model uses sector-specific workbooks and structured workplace support to overcome limited internet access for Express Delivery Operative apprentices. In 2025, 75% of HBC candidates passed first time and all candidates passed their Institute of Couriers professional membership examinations. The awards reinforce the College’s role in employer-led, inclusive skills development and its leadership of the Logistics Skills Hub.
