Former West Thames College CEO and Principal Tracy Aust OBE has been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London, recognising her longstanding contribution to education and communities across the capital.
The appointment follows her OBE for services to Further Education, presented earlier this year at Windsor Castle by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. Tracy emphasised that the honour reflects the collective contribution of West Thames College’s staff, students, governors and partners.
As Deputy Lieutenant, Tracy will support the Lord-Lieutenant in representing the Crown, attending official events and strengthening links with communities, charities, schools, colleges and the armed forces. This community focus builds on the partnerships that were central to her leadership at West Thames College.
Reflecting on the sector, Tracy highlighted continued pressures from funding, policy change and the rising number of young people not in education, employment or training. She stressed the importance of inclusive education, employer and community partnerships, and keeping students at the heart of leadership. The College congratulates Tracy on both honours and thanks her for her continuing commitment to Further Education.
