West Thames College is celebrating a significant achievement as four of our Performing Arts students, Avneet, Ruby, Soren and Nyx have been selected to join the esteemed Orange Tree Youth Theatre Company.
This incredible opportunity marks a milestone in their journeys as emerging artists, offering hands-on experience in a professional theatre setting and helping them take their first steps toward thriving careers in the performing arts.
The students will perform with other members of the cast of Regrets, a production that delves into themes of remorse and reflection. Avneet, Performing Arts Student of the Year 2024 at the College, recalled the moment she was selected, saying: “The audition process was nerve-wracking.
I remember checking my emails every day and feeling pure excitement when I finally received the confirmation.”
“This opportunity was truly transformative. During the initial workshop, we were encouraged to step out of our comfort zones and showcase our unique talents. I felt immense pride in demonstrating my skills and was thrilled when Orange Tree Theatre invited me to join their latest production.”
Ruby shared her initial experience working with the script, explaining: “I’m still getting to know the production, but it’s already opening my eyes to the depth and complexity of live theatre.”
She also highlighted the educational impact, stating: “This experience has allowed us to build connections with industry professionals and broaden our understanding of live performance.”
Ruby noted her excitement and anticipation about the experience: “This is a step forward to my career choice. I’ve always envisioned continuing in theatre, film, and TV, and this experience has given me the confidence to aim for larger productions. I’m thrilled and a little nervous—this is something completely new for me.”
Fellow castmate Soren added: “I'm really happy because this is something I want to pursue in my career. So, starting off with this opportunity is a really good way to gain experience.”
