About the Course
This course will focus on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas and offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and understanding.
You will explore and understand:
- Mental health legislation, services and public attitudes and how these have evolved
- How to support mental well-being through various stages of life
- the skills required to work in a mental health service
- Mental ill-health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill-health
Learners will be required to complete a portfolio to cover the 5 units:
- Understanding the context of mental health and wellbeing
- Promotion of mental health and wellbeing
- Mental health problems: associated issues and consequences
- Understanding mental ill health
- Working in mental health

Entry Requirements
Level 2 English or assessed at Level 2. If you do not have a level 2 qualification in English, you will need to complete an initial assessment to ensure suitability for the course. A suitable level 2 qualification in Health and social care

Progression
Upon successful completion of the course, you could progress to employment or further studies.

Assessment Method
The portfolio will include written assignments such as reports, case studies or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet and presentation notes and personal development plan.
