This one year course is held on a Wednesday daytime. It will give qualified/experienced hairdressers an insight into the barbering career path. You will learn techniques such as clipper work, scissor work, client consultation, cutting facial hair, blow drying and styling.

    • Health and safety
    • Client consultation
    • Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
    • Cut hair using basic barbering techniques
    • Cut men's hair
    • Cut facial hair
    • Create an image based theme within the hair sector.

  • Entry Requirements
    You should have completed the Introduction to Barbering course at West Thames College or be a hairdresser with experience / a qualified hairdresser. Acceptance for the course is by interview, which will be arranged on receipt of your application.   • Progression

    If you are a fully qualified hairdresser you could progress to a Level 3 hairdressing course. An experienced hairdresser could gain Level 2 qualification in hairdressing. Or you can progress in a career in the barbering industry.

  • Assessment Method

    Assessment will include formal observations, assignments and test papers.
