Following the retirement of Marjorie Semple, Principal of West Thames College at the end of March, Tracy Aust, previously the Deputy Principal, started her new post on 1 April.
Marjorie had worked in the further education sector for almost 40 years, arriving at West Thames College in 2001 as Assistant Principal for Learning and becoming Principal in 2008. During this time she has:
- Managed the £70 million project to rebuild the Isleworth campus
- Guided the College to a position of being financially sound
- Achieved a good Ofsted inspection grade in 2014 with an Outstanding for Leadership and Management.
Together with the senior management team and governors, Marjorie created a clear vision for the college which will be carried on by Tracy. As Deputy Principal Tracy was responsible for the curriculum and for delivering high quality education to the many different communities served by the college. West Thames College will continue to review the courses offered as Tracy explains, "We need to constantly adapt to ensure that we are giving local people the skills they need to compete in the local labour market."
Over the coming months Tracy is looking forward to meeting the College's partners and members of the public at events throughout the borough including the launch of the new West Thames College Skills and Logistics Centre in May.
