BTEC Level 3 Science student earns place at Oxford University
When Nesrin Alhasan (shown below) arrived at West Thames College in 2015, she knew very little English and joined the ESOL Threshold programme. Nesrin excelled in English and soon completed her GCSEs, progressing onto a BTEC Level 3 Science course.
Alongside her course commitments, Nesrin worked as a student ambassador, representing the College at Open Events, worked as a part-time teaching assistant, and completed all her course units with distinctions.
Nesrin's progress was recognised by the College through her earning two awards in 2019: Outstanding Academic Achievement and Science Student of the Year. And in the summer her hard work and determination paid off - as she was offered a place to study Biomedical Science at Oxford University.
We asked Nesrin about how West Thames College helped in her learning and development, "West Thames College provided me with all the support, motivation, skills and experience that I need to succeed in the future. I will say West Thames College is one of the best college's for those who want to pursue their dream career."
Nesrin's inspirational journey with West Thames College demonstrates the support given to students so that they receive the best possible preparation to #StartHereGoFar. For more information about our courses, please visit here: http://www.west-thames.ac.uk/courses
