West Thames College is proud to have been involved in supporting this exceptional day and environmentally-friendly cause. Sustainable fashion is far more ethical and healthy, for our planet and people, saving natural resources, reducing our carbon footprint and ensuring fair and safe working conditions.

Our makeup artists were kept fully active on the day as they prepared models for the runway. Volunteering to be a part of such an event, was a great opportunity for our students. It was a chance for them to show off their amazing talents and get some hands-on insight into the backstage experience of live fashion shows.

Here is a quote from Natalie Baylis, an organiser of the event, on our students: “I was incredibly impressed with the makeup artists from West Thames College who agreed to volunteer their time for an entire Saturday to support the EalingSewnUp sustainable fashion show. They arrived on time, prepared and eager to get stuck in. All of the models found them to be friendly yet professional. They delivered on the brief and helped the event run smoothly and efficiently. They followed all instructions perfectly and were a pleasure to work with. As if that wasn’t enough, they also left the dressing room immaculately clean and tidy leaving one less thing for the event organisers to worry about. With this positive and professional approach, this particular group are a credit to West Thames College and an asset to any event in which they participate. Thank you and well done!”

The event was truly a success! Most importantly saving over 350kg of clothes from waste (almost the equivalent weight of a grand piano). It was an enjoyable experience for all those who attended and certainly a brilliant chance for our students to take part in something that builds their portfolio and CV.
