Running for 3 hours a week, over 13 weeks, the Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching in the post 14 education and training sector. It is designed to give you an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training; teaching and learning approaches; session planning skills; delivery of inclusive sessions which motivate learners; and using different assessment methods and record keeping.
Depending on your circumstances, this course may be free under the GLA Free Courses for Jobs offer.
The fees for this course may be waived if::
- You do not already have a full level 3 (or above) qualification
- You do have a level 3 (or above) qualification but are unemployed or on a low wage*.
*As defined by the ESFA and GLA.

Entry Requirements
You should have a qualification or extensive experience in the subject you intend to teach, and GCSE English and maths or equivalent. Good IT skills are required. Applicants who do not have GCSE English or maths may be admitted to the course at the discretion of the course leader. You should be prepared to take a literacy assessment during the interview.

Progression
You may wish to go on to the Certificate in Education in Further Education and Skills in order to achieve a full teaching qualification.

Assessment Method
You will complete assignments and a microteach. You will be expected to show evidence of some reading and research in your assignments and show how this could improve practice. All assignments should be word processed.
