Project SEARCH with Thorpe Park Project SEARCH is an international supported internship programme, for young adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, which supports their transition from education to full time, paid employment. A yearly cohort of up to twelve interns have three different extended work rotations/ work experience at Thorpe Park, taught by a West Thames College teacher and supported by a full-time job coach provided by Kaleidoscope.
  • About the Course
    The programme provides on-site practical work training at Thorpe Park, where interns/ students will be based for 5 days a week. In addition, interns will work towards a City and Guilds level 1 qualification in Employability Skills which take place on the on-site training room.
  • Entry Requirements
    To be eligible for this programme, applicants should: Have a learning disability and/or Autism Have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place Be aged 17-24 Have the desire to work towards a goal of paid employment Be committed to a 5 day week programme Be an independent traveller or be undertaking travel training
  • Progression
    When you graduate from the programme, you will be supported to find paid employment.
  • Assessment Method
    You will study three separate units: Effective Communication Working as Part of a Team Preparing for Work Through training and direct work experience, young adults will develop employability skills, self-confidence, job specific skills and Maths, English and ICT skills whilst working alongside employees in a real employment setting.
