This exciting programme is designed to help you develop your English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The course includes employability, tutorials, personal and life skills, science, humanities, English and maths. You will be taught using a variety of engaging and interactive methods allowing you to focus on your own personal targets.
Successful completion means you have the opportunity to progress onto further vocational or academic courses at West Thames College such as business, ICT, travel and tourism and health and social care.

About the Course
You will develop your English and study skills in the context of humanities, science, maths, IT and employability. You will also learn about citizenship and receive a general introduction to life in Britain. You will have weekly tutorials and you will receive advice on careers and further courses.
One of the main features of the programme is an emphasis on pastoral support and looking after the individual needs of students, and we have a welfare officer to give you advice on housing, benefits, and finding a doctor or solicitor.

Entry Requirements
None, but you will have an initial assessment to establish your level of English and an initial maths assessment. You will also have an interview to find out about your previous educational experience and your hopes for the future. Progression
When you are ready you can go on to higher vocational or academic qualifications at the college. We offer Foundation (Level 1) courses with ESOL support in Business and Travel, ICT and Science.

Assessment Method
You will take externally recognised Skills for Life exams in English and Maths at the appropriate level. There are opportunities to take examinations every term which allow you to progress more quickly through the levels.
