West Thames College offers ESOL courses for adult learners from beginners Entry Level to Level 1 equivalent to GCSE grade D. We will interview you and give you an initial assessment to find out which level is right for you. We provide exam courses which cover speaking, listening, reading and writing. E3 and Level 1 courses are recognised by the Study, Work and Life in the UK programme. The courses include a variety of topics including citizenship and employability skills. Courses take place daytime or evening and are for either 10, 5.5 or 5 hours per week. We currently have spaces available. If you want to attend please book an appointment by phone or by visiting the college for our Friday morning assessment session.

There are no entry requirements for this course. You will have an initial interview and assessment to establish your level of English in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Progression
You may go on to another course such as ESOL Destinations (all at Level 1) or find employment or voluntary work. We will give you advice about further training and work opportunities.

Assessment Method
All language classes follow the Adult ESOL Core Curriculum. You will take externally recognised Skills for Life exams at the appropriate level. There are opportunities to take examinations every term which allow you to progress more quickly through the levels.
