Destination courses are for more advanced ESOL students and consist of about 60% English and 40% vocational study.
You will study English with a combination of units that cover Health and Social Care and Childcare at Level 1, with the option of work experience for two weeks in the year.

About the Course
The course covers both health and care and childcare units and may include personal care, promoting healthy eating and living, the care needs of children, learning and creative activities, self-assessment and positive attitudes and behaviour at work.
There will also be a work experience placement (subject to availability) and visits to care centres.

Entry Requirements
You do not need to have any previous qualifications in health or social care or childcare, but you should be able to give reasons for wanting to work in health and social care or with children.
You should have a pass at ESOL Entry 3 or equivalent. You will be interviewed before you enrol on the course, and you will have a written assessment to establish your level of language skills. You will be required to complete a DBS check in order to attend your work placement when you enrol on the course. Progression
Level 2 qualifications in Health and Social Care or Childcare or a Level 2 apprenticeship.

Assessment Method
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and you will build a portfolio of work by completing assignments leading to the Level 1 Certificate in Health and Social Care or Certificate in Childcare.
Throughout the year, you will take part in group discussion, spoken presentations, basic written assignments and practical exercises on the computer in order to help you prepare for your Skills for Life examinations.
