Foundation Learning courses are designed to give you the skills to progress to Level 2. This course is made up of two qualifications: Level 1 Certificate in Business (September to December) and Level 1 Certificate in Travel and Tourism (January - June).
You will start by working towards the Business modules. If you successfully achieve all the modules and have good attendance you will then be registered for the second qualification (Travel and Tourism).

About the Course
The course will encourage you to develop the practical skills and essential know-how required for today's rapidly expanding world of travel and tourism. You will have the opportunity to develop both general and specialist skills. You will complete projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
This course covers business administration units from September to December, then travel and tourism units from January to June.
Travel and tourism units include:
- UK Travel Destinations
- Planning for a job in Travel and Tourism
- Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
- Planning for and taking part in a visit
Business Administration units include:
- Welcoming visitors
- Working in business administration
- Recording business transactions
- Working in a team
- Managing your health at work
You will also study Functional Skills in Maths and English.

Progression
If you successfully complete all the modules you can go on to the Level 2 BTEC First Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism, Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Business or an apprenticeship.

Assessment Method
All units are assessed via assignments which are individually graded. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
