This entry level programme has been designed to meet the needs of young adults with learning difficulties. It consists of a selection of modules designed to enable students to leave college and enter the world of work, voluntary, supported or paid employment.

Who is this course for?

Young adults with learning difficulties who wish to get a job or supported employment.

About the course

The course modules have been targeted to meet the needs of realistic job opportunities, and the teaching team work closely with other local agencies in planning and supporting a move out of the college environment and into the world of work.

A personal tutor will support students to produce an individual action plan and personal goals. The tutor also works with course leaders to seek employment for students, and to offer advice and employment guidance.

You will study:

  • Edexcel entry qualifications in personal and social development
  • Work skills
  • Independent living skills
  • Basic skills (City & Guilds qualifications in literacy and numeracy)
  • Enterprise
  • Work experience.
Additional opportunities

Supported learning courses have a varied and stimulating enrichment programme, including local visits using public transport, sport and social opportunities, and a coffee shop run by supported learning students. Work experience is an important part of this course, and travel, training and other employability skills are promoted.
