About the course
The Visual Effects (VFX) industry is a fast-moving and growing element of the UK economy, the majority of which is based in London. VFX is a combination of techniques that come together to enhance a live action shot. These techniques are used in many entertainment industries, from film and broadcast television to Architectural Visualisations. The processes include augmenting or replacing backgrounds, placing digital 3d elements into live action shots by using a number of techniques including tracking cameras and colour grading. This course offers a generalist Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) grounding in the industry standard software Maya whilst at the same time the course emphasises the importance of art, design and media principles. You will be taught how to model, rig, animate and light in 3D and the foundations of CGI and VFX compositing using industry standard software.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assignment rather than examination based and is continually assessed, culminating in a final major project. Your grades are recorded throughout the year and appear on your final diploma. Your progress is constantly monitored and any problems are dealt with as they happen, either during sessions or in tutorials. Individual action plans for students are arranged during tutorials which enable you to plan your studies more effectively. This continuous assessment will finally take you through to a job or higher education applications.
