Barbering - City & Guilds Level 2

This one year course is held on a Wednesday daytime. It will give qualified/experienced hairdressers an insight into the barbering career path. You will learn techniques such as clipper work, scissor work, client consultation, cutting facial hair, blow drying and styling.

This course is primarily for students aged 19+.

  • Working in the hair industry
  • Health and safety
  • Client consultation
  • Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
  • Cut hair using basic barbering techniques
  • Cut men’s hair
  • Cut facial hair
  • Create an image based theme within the hair sector.
How will I be assessed?

Assessment will include formal observations, assignments and test papers.

Where next?

If you are a fully qualified hairdresser you could progress to a Level 3 hairdressing course. An experienced hairdresser could gain Level 2 qualification in hairdressing. Or you can progress in a career in the barbering industry.

Entry requirements
You should have completed the Introduction to Barbering course at West Thames College or be a hairdresser with experience / a qualified hairdresser. Fees

Plus £160 exam fee. You will need to purchase a barbering kit and uniform (£211). Financial support may be available to help with these costs. Please see our Fees and Concessions page or call 020 8326 2015 for further details.
