Carpentry & Joinery - CSkills Level 1 Award (Evening)

This part-time evening course for adults is held in our workshops at the Skills + Logistics Centre in Feltham. It covers all aspects of carpentry and joinery alongside technical underpinning knowledge and health and safety requirements associated with the construction trade. The course provides a good basis for further study.

It is held Monday and Wednesdays evenings from 6 to 9.15pm for 1 year.

Who is this course for?

For adults (19+ years) who want to learn basic carpentry and joinery skills and achieve a recognised qualification with a view to future employment in this field.

About the course

You will study:

  • Timber framing
  • Flooring
  • Roofing
  • Door hanging
  • Staircases
  • All first and second fittings.

The units are combined with technical underpinning knowledge related to the needs of the industry. You will also take a mandatory online health and safety test.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through a combination of practical assessments and the completion of learner workbooks.

Where next?

Progress to the CSkills Level 1 Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery, also offered at the Feltham Skills Centre.

Entry requirements

Fees
Fees are subject to change.

The course may be free if you are:

  • 19+ and in receipt of an active benefit (eg JSA or ESA)
  • 19+, unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit, and you are doing this course to improve your employment prospects
  • 19-23 and don't already have a Level 2 qualification, and intend to progress to a Level 2 course after this course.
