You will learn practical skills in brickwork, carpentry, joinery, plumbing, electrical installation and construction drawing.
The course has been designed to give you a basic awareness of working in construction and a good understanding of health and safety in construction. It focuses on practical work, although there will also be sessions in the classroom. You will learn about timber products, joinery and plumbing skills, health and safety and welfare, painting skills, construction drawing and electrical installation.
You will also study functional skills in English and maths.

“I’ve had the opportunity to do some work experience at First Fix Plumbing and Cray Barwick Ltd where I learnt more about the industry. My final project was setting up a bathroom which took a month to complete. It was really tough at times but it was a really good feeling when it was finished.”
