Who is this course for?

Those who have completed a Level 3 qualification or A Levels and would like to work towards a Level 4 qualification, which is equivalent to the first year of a university course. The course is designed to prepare you for work or to progress to university or an HND.

This course is entirely coursework based.

Where next?

After successfully completing the HNC, you can progress to the HND (Level 5) in the second year, or apply to the second or third year of a university degree course. This can lead to employment in fields such as website or apps developer, software developer or tester, IT technical support, system support engineer, computer technician or network technician etc.

Entry requirements

You should have one A Level or an equivalent qualification, such as BTEC Level 3, with at least 120 UCAS points. Applicants without a formal qualification but who have relevant work experience may be considered on an individual basis. The tuition fee is for 12 months of study and may be subject to change in subsequent years. The course fee is usually covered by your student loan and you will not need to pay this back until you have completed this course and when you are earning over £21,000 a year.
