This course is based in our professional kitchens at the Feltham Skills Centre. You will be given opportunities to work with a variety of ingredients and equipment in order to learn the skills needed to produce food in a commercial environment.
Alongside your food preparation and cooking qualification you will also gain qualifications in food hygiene and health and safety, which are needed for work in the catering industry:
You will also study functional skills in English and Maths.

“The equipment is industry standard – there’s a pastry room as well as the kitchens and the teachers show you lots of different techniques using the equipment. I entered the Wessex Salon Culinaire competition in April and I won a silver medal for my chicken dish.”
